Job Description:

NT Killingley Ltd is an award winning and extremely successful, family owned landscaping company offering an exciting opportunity for the right individual to take their first steps into the grounds maintenance landscape industry. Based on the outskirts of Chesterfield and working nationally for a wide range of commercial clients the company delivers a broad range of landscape activities which include hard and soft landscape construction, sports pitch construction and management, grounds and winter maintenance along with fencing and speciality surfacing. 

The candidates will need to demonstrate a genuine interest in the industry and have a passion for an outdoor life often in challenging environments.
They will also be expected to complete a Level 2 Work Based Diploma in Horticulture through DART, this will require building a portfolio, assessor visits and some off job training.

Working within a grounds maintenance team to deliver grounds maintenance and small landscape projects. 

The grounds maintenance apprentice will be involved with maintaining the grounds of schools, industrial sites, offices, police and fire stations. The work involves being outdoors all day and will be involved mowing & strimming grass, marking out sports pitches weeding, pruning and hedge trimming.
Duties will also involve the installation of landscapes around buildings, roads and open spaces, planting shrubs, trees, turfing, lawn and associated works.  

Wage and working week.
£3.50 basic pay for 40 hours per week
X 1.5 for 8 hours and anything more will be x2
Plus yard and travel time
40 hours a week plus some time travelling to site/returning from
Will involve early starts and a typical day in the summer months will be 10 hours inclusive of breaks and 30 minutes unpaid lunch break. 

Job Requirements:

Skills Required
An interest in working outdoors and an appreciation of plants, trees and grass.
 Must have the ability to get to the yard at chesterfield every morning to be collected by their team members. Due to early starts they will not be able to rely on public transport.

Personal qualities
Be a responsible and reliable member of the team. Have a clear and positive attitude towards work. Be fit and healthy in order to perform strenuous work.

Many of our apprentices have progressed to foreman and supervisor level.
