Our client is a leading nursery producing in excess of a million ornamental plants per annum to the retail sector. The nursery site covers two sites and incorporates glass, polythene and irrigated standing ground growing shrubs and perennials and ornamentals, marketing through a well-known group supplying independent garden centres, chains and multiples throughout the UK. They are currently looking to recruit a Technical Manager to take responsibility for the different technical requirements for both sites.An opportunity has become available for an experienced Technical Manager to take responsibility for the management of all crop protection operations, together with the responsibility for associated staff, facilities and equipment. You will report directly to the Managing Director.The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of technical horticultural growing principles and ability to apply them to different crops in a commercial environment. You will have strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate others to effectively achieve goals. You should have good organisational skills and the ability to manage a number of tasks at once. You will be able to manage, train and develop staff.A minimum level 3 horticultural qualification and relevant experience is required, as well as a good level of computer literacy in Excel and Word. Other qualifications that would be an advantage include BASIS, FACTS, and PA1 and PA6.
